Added this one to the collection today.. console only..
Pico PSU arrived today.. installing it now. Also my VGA for DC came today..
Couple of other bits and pieces came too.
Just looking at the plug, this is waaay better than the gen 1 versions I have. Anyone want a gen 1 version?
That's one awesomely augmented Dreamcast.
MK2 arrived today and joined its MK1 brother, both are waiting for their other brother (MK3) to get off a ship
Wow that is freaking amazing!!! Bags coming to your joint for the inaugural playoff.
Ok I’m jealous!
This one isn't as impressive! A little yolo on one of these weird, current stock Rage XL cards. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265091492931
It's going in the Aptiva K6-2 (which, to recap, only takes low profile PCI cards). On paper this is a better fit for the system than the MX440 I tried in it. I'll be interested to see how it compares to the onboard SiS300 graphics.
Interested to know how it goes!
Yes please do report back on that Rage XL - I bought one to try out in my socket 7 machine but it wouldn't post with the card installed. I've since repurposed it's bracket for a serial mouse port so it wasn't a complete loss
There's a bit of discussion here from people who have been unsuccessful with them: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=75188
There are suggestions that it's 3.3V PCI related. I have done zero homework on this.
Yeah I suspected something like that but was too lazy to do the research before or after - they're super cheap so worth a shot as I've heard that they make a good VGA / SVGA card with VESA 3 support. Yet another contender that attempted to take the crown from my trusty ARK2000 but failed
I bought mine 6 months back and still haven't installed it. Need someone to do a Dreamcast Retro Let's Play to motivate me, or something.
maybe you could give some of the atomiswave ports a crack
I've got a DC with a DCDigital, and i had a pico PSU installed which worked fine, until i added a rumble expansion to a controller...now whenever the rumble goes off the video drops.
I've restored the original PSU and the issue goes away. Little bit of a risk having that original psu though as its 100/110 volts rated.
Id like to know if anyone else is having the same problem.
Yeah I'm pretty damned keen for some of these. Quite a few got PS2 ports believe it or not (and really good ones - Metal Slug 6, Hokuto no Ken, etc - all 480p on PS2, full speed, excellent quality audio compared to NAOMI titles like Marvel vs Capcom 2 where the audio screwed up). I had a PS2 with these in an arcade cabinet for a while, and you absolutely could not tell the difference between these and the Atomiswave originals.
But there's a couple like Dolphin Blue that never got a home port anywhere. I've heard GDEmu is a bit flaky with these ports (MODE is better, apparently), but I'd still like to give it a crack for the couple of titles that aren't on either Dreamcast or PS2 natively.
Test 1: Although it's not the target system, the Cono Box Socket 7 is sitting here naked on the bench so I threw the card in. The speaker beeped out an error message, and no signal on monitor.
I'll be retrieving the Aptiva on the weekend. Feeling confident!
I've picked up a bunch lately. Not the smartest thing since I have no space, but sometimes things are worth saving from ewaste.
Here's 2: a HP Pavilion A1040A and a generic whitebox in an AOPEN case of some description. (KF something?)
As office PC's, the first thing I checked was that solitaire was working. They both passed that most critical test so now they'll be cleaned up.
The HP is in very nice condition, might get an upgrade, an SSD and be used for my old scanner.
I've also gone from 1 printer 6 months back (and still on the first set of ink I got for it) to 4.
recently joining my Canon IP 3600 have been:
A Canon MG6150, which I think is from 2010 so just qualifies
A Canon MP640, which I think is from 2009.
and a Canon Laser Shot LBP-1120 from 2004. all for a total cost of $25 (including cheap knock off ink for the ink jets)
Bonus with the 6150 and 640 is that they share a Disc tray which I didn't know when I got them. I have stacks of printable CD and DVD R's so I might end up actually keeping both. I'm NOT A HOARDER I SWEAR!
That's all the saves for the time being. now when I clear some space, I'll be in the what activity did you get up to thread.
the evidence suggests otherwise
but me thinks youre not the only one here thats got a little tickle of that
I recently had to be rid of a bunch of stuff I didn't want to let go because I had no where to store it anymore.
And I didn't want to let it go because I am a hoarder.
Even after I got rid of it all, you couldn't tell. So this new lot makes me feel a little better. Not heaps better because 9 computers and 14 cases are now 2 computers, but it does help somewhat.
