Bought these speakers second hand off a forum member here. He advised me that the backlight LCD was fading and it was exactly as he mentioned when I started using it.

I emailed Logitech which have always given me great technical support. After a few emails to and from one of their staff members (Marissa) she finished up by letting me know that they were going to send me a new z5500 pod.

It turns out the LCD screen is actually different to the original pod which gives a brighter and easier to read display.

Lol this thread reminds me how awesome these speakers and the family of logitech are.

I have a set of z5300s that are getting on close to 15 years old now probably. They have been abused almost all their life and apart from 1 blown fuse have been amazing.

Hah this threads still going :p

Safely say that new pod i got in 2010 (Been nearly 4 years since i started this? wow) is still working perfect and glowing brightly :D Everything is still pumping away like the day i got it too!

Good to see logitech is still giving replacements away for free :)

I'm currently running mine with a Creative SB XFI Titainium (1xPCI-e card). Great little card, its clear, does upsampling for stereo mix's flawlessly and lets me amp up the Bass on the sub much higher than it ever would via the POD (And it handles it fine :)). Not the audiophiles card but then an audiophile wouldn't have z5500's

    They're brilliant.

I've had mine for eight years now. They'd have to be the most enduring hard working component I have ever owned.

it'll depend on the source, go digital if you can - for computer speakers you could do a lot worse.

I too have a set of these and got the control pod replaced free of charge well outside the warranty period.

Bloody good set of speakers, have considered buying a second set for my bedroom :leet:
