Well... There was a 2nd person there... Recording for Tiktok... it was eventually intentional. And not stupid. Brings awareness to the tools capabilities.

Mate from work got one and reckons it's worth the $6k he spent. He also reckons a finger is worth a lot more.

I would agree too, months in i still have wierd tingles on my fingertip after the saw grabbed the wood, and the wood took my thumb and finger for a ride into the blade

just make sure you disengage the cartridge if you are cutting anything that could cause it to misfire like acrylic

Hey guys, not sure if this is the appropriate spot to ask... but thought you guys might know.

Looking at getting a dozen or so plywood panels to line the walls of my new shed. was wondering if anyone had had experience with the Plys from Bunnings?
    Specifically this one, the EcoPly...
Ecoply 2400 x 1200mm 15mm Plywood Pine Structural CD Grade - Bunnings Australia

Did price some from Plyco in Melbourne, but by the time delivery was added it as roughly the same (little more actually) as getting from bunnings, and I can go and inspect each panel when I pick it up then.

    Cheers.

Sadly ply is really expensive nowadays, for something that's meant to be a cheap material, both form the big green shed and building & timber suppliers. Even softwood CD ply is hardly what you'd call cheap.

CD grade isn't particularly nice to look at especially the D side but if the cosmetics don't bother you it's fine. Face the C side to the interior of your shed. I've used those panels kind of panels for a fair few projects before and I've actually found Bunnings to have more consistent quality control, probably with their big purchasing power. Like you I've also found them to be on par or cheaper than most other suppliers. Timber is just expensive in general. It should suit the shed application very well, cost aside.

I haven't bought much ply from Bunnings as it's generally been cheaper elsewhere but one in particular stands out when I bought some marine ply. For those that don't know marine ply is supposed to be AA grade and not have voids etc. I didn't notice it when picking it up but one side had a small filled spot so it was more like AB or even AC grade and it also had a few small voids so it was low quality and perhaps not even really marine ply. My rule of thumb is Bunnings only gets used for unplanned stuff otherwise I go to a proper supplier. Not sure what I'll do next time now that I've sold the ute. Probably hire one as most places charge a min $100 delivery for sheets so hiring a ute for an hour would be cheaper.

Bunnings current ply stock sourced from Brazil is complete garbage.

I bought some CD from a local supplier and it was both cheaper and better than their structural, let alone the non-structural crap.

Was also for lining a shed :)

    hah, thanks mate.
Maybe I'll go check Mitre10 as well... :p
will do some more research and see if any local timber suppliers around too. It's only for shed wall lining, but still would like it to look half decent and not have knot holes and stuff every where.

Yeah, figured C grade side should be OK as a wall in shed with stuff ll over it anyway... I know what you mean about Ply, and timber in general being expensive... crazy.

Can't count how many times I've watched an American YouTube say I built this for $100 in lumber and I cry thinking about how much it would cost here with inferior species.

Technically any of the ply products would work for shed lining. Are you insulating? Hanging things of it?

If you're not thinking of insulating you absolutely should consider it.

I got that same ply for building my under-bench storage and it was fine for that, but would be terrible for walls if unpainted. There were so many knots with filler and even though they were in a big stack, 1 of the 2 I got was a pringle. If you're fixing to the wall it should be right though.
Yeah the number of epic work bench and storage builds I've watched where they say the timber cost $100 is ridiculous.

Even recycled timber is pretty pricey. Even a lot of pallets barely qualify as timber. Bulk undressed timber is better but still not cheap and getting more and more difficult to find. Sadly woodworking isn't a cheap hobby anymore.

Most annoying thing about ply is the local timber mills don't make it. I can get the best blackbutt cut and delivered for a very reasonable price, but ply? Forget it.

Looks good mate! Exactly what I'm after. That's C/D grade non structural?
Finally got to mitre 10 to check out what hey had, had some decent looking 15mm C/D non structural for 67 dollars a sheet, $10 less that Bunnings. So looks like a win.

Marine Ply for the power box for any specific reason?

Yeah, hoping to be fixing shelves, hooks, a cleat system, bike hangers etc to it. Got three 'cross beams' to screw into up the wall, top, middle and bottom of ply sheet, so hoping it'll be plenty strong enough.

And yeah I have that airo-cell type insulation on walls and ceiling, it's nice and cool in there, even with the direct afternoon sun it's very tolerable. used all the left over bits I had and cut to size to line the garage door roller door on the house which cops direct morning sun, made a big difference there too.
Will still be putting up a ceiling fan for some circulation as well.
Floor paint and some vermin guard next on the buy list...

Thanks for letting me crap up the woodworking thread... perhaps we need a dedicated 'Shed Thread' :D

That sheet goes right to the corner and the colorbond on that corner is only a little wider than the 150 C purlin, so if that roller door is up it's exposed to wind blown rain
