    Dont buy expensive HDMI cables.

The ones from Selby Acoustics are awesome quality and fairly cheap.

Thing to watch with cheap HDMI cables is that some do video only and wont carry sound.

    Oh nice :D

Yah its not bad, considering most packages for the PS3 come with a game or three blu-ray movies for $688. Either way unless you have a ps3 game or blu-ray movies you'll still need to spend some cash.

There has been various answers about HDMI cables, but as a fellow projector owner (720p Panasonic AE900 with 110" screen) I can tell you they aren't all created equal. The risk you run with a projector is signal loss, because the run is usually over 8m or so.

Because the signal is digital, the signal loss should be obvious. In my case I bought a 10m cable (forget the brand) from Myer that caused green pixelation all over the screen - it wasn't a cheap cable either - about $130. I returned that and since then I've been using cables I ordered from http://www.htcustomcables.com/ (I got a 10m Krystal model). Those guys are great and their cables are brilliant, so well made and thick you could kill someone with one. :)

Note: I don't think they do the Krystal in HDMI to HDMI anymore, but it's not important, just chose Evolution or Evolution-S.

If you want to go even cheaper, I got some from svideo.com and they work fine for me.

None of my runs are more than 2m though. If you're doing long(er) runs, seriously consider getting some good cables - your mileage may vary. And I figure for the $50 it cost me (including shipping) to get some TOSLINK cables, HDMI-> DVI and a couple of HDMI->HDMI you can't go wrong.

(For reference, I got a 1m HDMI -> DVI cable, which goes from my HTPC to a Denon AVR2807, and a 2m HDMI->HDMI which goes from the Denon to my Panasonic 50PZ700a. There are no issues with signal at 1080p, but your mileage may vary)

Sure it's been mentioned already but thought I'd put it in this thread.

Game currently has a trade in deal going at the moment.

    You can pickup a 40gb PS3 for $299 if you trade in a PS2 or XBOX + 10 games.

It's not advertised on their site, but signs are up all over the stores here in Canberra.

I'm going to be picking one up on Friday :)

Are you sure that's not for an Xbox 360 trade in?? that's what the sign showed when I was in Canberra.
I can't see them giving you $400 for a S/H PS2 with 10 games  you can almost buy a brand new PS2 and new games for $400.
But if they do,go for it  and let us all know too.

I"m still wondering if it comes with any free blu-ray movies as some previous deals.

Its a good price but you still have to spend money on a game or blu-ray movies, so the price turns out to be the same as some previous deals for $688 with 3 blu-ray movies or a game.

I'd say no it doesn't. Otherwise they would have advertised the 3 blu-rays were included via redemption.

I still think this is a better option as you can choose what you want with the console as opposed to a game or blu-rays being thrown in.
